In 2016, the output value of Taiwan’s petrochemical industry reached US$51.02 billion, which represented about 49% of the total overall value of the chemical industry. Of the entire petrochemical output, 46% was assigned for export.
In terms of the output and export value of plastics and rubber industries in 2016, output value of the plastics industry was worth around US$21.86 billion; where export value reached US$17.57 billion, representing 80% of the total output. Total output value of the rubber industry was worth around US$3.03 billion; where export value reached US$2.35 billion, representing 76% of the total output.
As for the plastics and rubber machines, their output value reached US$1.33 billion and export value reached US$1.03 billion, making Taiwan the 6th largest supplier in the world following Germany, China, Japan, Italy and the U.S.A. |
