TIMTOS 2017 Successfully Closed with Smart Machines Taking Center Stage
There was prosperity in the air when TIMTOS successfully wrapped up on March 12th with a full slate of record breaking numbers. This 6-day event, 2017 Taipei International Machine Tool Show, showcased a series of high-efficiency automated and smart machines. The show attracted 7,339 foreign visitors, nearly a 3% increase compared to last edition in 2015. The top ten countries where foreign visitors came from were China, Japan, Malaysia, India, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, U.S.A., Russia and Singapore.
This biennial TIMTOS hosted 1,100 exhibitors using 5,430 booths this year. Of all the exhibitors, 30% of them were from 20 countries, including Germany, Switzerland, Italy, U.S.A. and Japan. The exhibition scale, in terms of number of exhibitors, booths and foreign buyers, has hit record high once again.
Many exhibitors have received orders or made contact with potential buyers from around the world during the show. For example, KAO MING has received an order from an automotive molding manufacturer from China on the second day of the show and also received enquiries from South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Netherland, England, and U.S.A. “We expect that order volumes would increase this year,” stated general manager of KAO MING.
EARTH-CHAIN has received orders from Denmark and Japan during the show, and two thirds of all buyers visited its booth are new encounters. SHIN-YAIN has also received so many orders onsite that make its production line running full capacity till September and made contacts with buyers from 25 countries, including Denmark, Portugal, Israel, Ukraine, Japan, Korea, Australia, India, Thailand and Philippines. POSA has met numerous buyers from Japan, Korea and China and were very satisfied with the effectiveness of the show. Finally, HEIDENHAIN expressed that based on its many experiences of exhibiting in exhibitions around the world, TIMTOS, as a machine tool show presenting high-quality products and providing excellent facilities and services, has met international standard.
Foreign buyers and media reporters also expressed their positive feedback toward the exhibits and services of the show. For instance, Mr. Patrik Olson from Sweden stated that there were always new discoveries every time he came to TIMTOS and also thought that compared to the European and US products, the ones that Taiwan produces are relatively good with more reasonable prices. Mr. Siddaiyan Govindan from India expressed that he found cutting-edge machines and technologies in TIMTOS that are really hard to find in India. It was the fourth time that Mr. David J. Wiggins visited TIMTOS from U.K. He thought that TIMTOS really is a huge one-stop shop displaying and promoting Taiwan’s machinery and manufacturing technology. Mr. Hitoshi Hasegawa from Japan on the other hand found out that Taiwanese machine manufacturers have strong determination to improve Made-in-Taiwan products. No doubt that Taiwan is becoming a high-end machinery producer.
In addition, in response to the 4th industrial revolution and continuous development of automotive and aerospace industries, the first-ever Summit was held during the show. Speakers from industry giants such as CISCO, NVIDIA, SICK, Siemens, KUKA and Mercedes-Benz were invited to share the latest trends in “Smart Machine,” “Smart Factory,” “Automotive Manufacturing Revolution” and “Aerospace Supply Chain,” which attracted more than 500 audiences.
Participants of the One-on-one Procurement Meetings also affirmed the effectiveness of the show this year. Around 200 meetings were arranged where near 100 exhibitors and 32 VIP buyers from 17 countries such as Germany, Russia, Turkey, U.S.A., Mexico and India met and discussed future business opportunities. Furthermore, more than 30 seminars and new product presentations were held during the show that covered the newest industry trends and future developments.
Next edition of Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS) will be unveiled from March 5th to 10th in 2019. With the construction of Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 2 finished in time for TIMTOS 2019, it is anticipated that the exhibition scale would be expanded and hit another record high. More business opportunities and cross-nation technical exchanges could be expected.
