igus®: Providing affordable quality gears for automation
At iMTduo this year, Taiwan igus® will exhibit automation products centered on low cost and high value. The product specialist from Taiwan igus®, Jason Lin, spoke to us and shared the latest developments of the company, as well as the advantages in using igus’ products, especially for buyers who are looking for intelligent solutions at iMTduo.
What are the products that will be displayed at iMTduo in 2018?
Jason Lin: We will exhibit robolink D strain wave gear (RL-S) and robolink D worm gear joint. Robolink D strain wave gear (RL-S) is the smallest version of the gear and is normally applied in the fifth axis of standardized joint arms. The advantages are that the products can be free of maintenance and oil, while being economically priced. It is also easy to install and lightweight. The most commonly applied industries for it include automation and education.
How have igus’ products involved in the trend of Industry 4.0? Jason Lin: Our technology has been implemented by Industry 4.0’s educational factory at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, especially on modular low-cost robotic arms. In regard to how igus’ products can assist manufacturers, we believe the essence of smart manufacturing is that all equipment and components can be inspected and controlled remotely; thus, this technology challenges the predictability and stability of products’ life spans.
All of igus’ products will be thoroughly inspected, and we are able to accurately predict their life span. Customers can avoid emergency stoppages of the production line, therefore reducing losses from maintenance. igus’ products are embedded with IoT features for making stable connections, enhancing the energy-saving features and accountability of our products. Our products can therefore be involved in establishing new forms of production and increasing efficiency and accuracy during the production stage.
What are your expectations for iMTduo?
Jason Lin: We hope iMTduo’s exhibiting scale will grow over time and move toward the level of TIMTOS.
