The current trends of additive manufacturing speed up

As the field of additive manufacturing flourish, a number of ground-breaking technologies have emerged to the surface, such as liquid metal printing, power bed fusion, HSS, SSS, CLIP, Multi-Jet fusion etc. Furthermore, ultrasonic additive manufacturing, and the intelligent additive technique that integrates casting and milling have given the field of additive manufacturing a broader range of unlimited development potential.

Types of materials used for additive manufacturing increased
The types used for additive materials will determine the quality of the output in production, as well as the service that it could offer. The globe is facing the problem of a limited range of materials to choose from – low performance and high cost, therefore companies such as Stratasys、3D systems、EOS、HP, BASF, DuPont have released a series of solutions : using polymer based composites to explore the performance possibilities of alloy materials, bioactive materials and ceramic materials in the field of additive manufacturing.

The upgrade in equipment for additive manufacturing
The quality for additive manufacturing has kept on optimizing, and thus has pushed forward changes in the design as well as processing in products. Such as the LEAP aircraft engine from GE, where they use additive manufacturing in the fuel nozzle has received over 11000 orders. In addition, in the areas of medicine additive hip joints, interbody cages, the technology is undergoing a great extent of precision and personalization.

Additive manufacturing services become more accessible
Systemization and digitalization are making additive manufacturing the primary direction for the manufacturing service solution. SIEMENS has been cooperating with Stratasys, GE, and 3D Hubs to enable their smart factory solutions to be integrated with additive manufacturing solutions and further achieve better quality in management as well as product life cycles.
