Taipei’s diverse natural and cultural attractions with an hour drive
Taiwan's natural landforms vary widely from plains, hills to high mountains. Due to different latitude and altitude, the climate type in Taiwan differs from tropical, subtropical, pleasant and cold zones.
Taipei being the capital of Taiwan is rich in historical and cultural landscapes. The most attractive thing is that it takes less than an hour to get to the natural and cultural attractions, such as Yangmingshan National Park, Beitou Hot Spring Area and Maokong. The highlight of Yangmingshan is the beautiful cherry blossoms when in season, splendid azaleas, and the Calla Lily Festival in Zhuzihu, making people forget troubles in life.
Beitou is famous for its hot spring, which originated during the Japanese period. The hot spring museum, Beitou Museum and Plum Garden are all inspired by Japanese structure. Another feature in Beitou is the green building library, and Thermal Valley with thick white smoke. After going to the hot spring, you may like to take a stroll through the Beitou market and explore the old Beitou culture on the road.
The most attractive part of Taipei's cultural creative industry is combining historical and culture attractions. There are lots of examples, such as the Huashan 1914 Creative Park, which is formerly known as a distillery, the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, originally as a tobacco factory, the Red House in Ximen, which is a century-old market building, old houses of Dadaojing, which represent the folk and traditional art of Taiwan, and Sisi Nan Cun (South Village #4-4) that shows the style of the Military dependents’ villages. You can see Taiwan's tasteful designs in all these places.
If you want to visit temples and pray for blessings, there are also many temples with more than 100 years of history in Taipei, such as Longshan Temple, Taipei Xia-Hai City God Temple, which are well known for praying for good relationships between spouses through its blessing. The Dalongdong Baoan Temple, Dadaocheng Cisheng Temple, and Guandu Temple are famous for seeking good health.
Upon entering these temples, you can witness the development of Taipei City and also appreciate traditional crafts, such as exquisite wood carvings, stone carvings, paper cutting art, paintings and vivid Buddha statues from hundreds of years ago.
