—— Interview with Jerry Chiang, Chairman of Caravision Technology Co.

ADAS: focuses on passenger experience and vehicle safety

With more than 30 years of video technology support from our parent company HI-SHARP in the security and surveillance field, Caravision focuses on the research and development of in-vehicle security and surveillance equipment, with a full range of products developed and manufactured in Taiwan and 90% exported, from product development and production, software application to system integration, markets including the United States, Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, etc. Our products for large commercial vehicles is particularly impressive, and Caravision has flexibly constructed a line of automotive video products, providing various AI intelligent video identification technology, advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), driving vision assistance system integration and fleet management services.

As the global security market changes, HI-SHARP and Jerry Chiang, Chairman of Caravision Technology, emphasized, “we have been involved in in-vehicle systems for many years, trying to break out of the transition dilemma” Caravision has been working with Mitsubishi in Japan since 1998 to introduce reverse camera and CRT monitor.

The company has many years of experience in the field of in-vehicle cameras and integration solutions, and has recently developed an in-vehicle system platform combining ADAS and AI technologies, with the intention of not only acting as an OEM/ODM manufacturer, but also actively seeking a new position to cross over to intelligent transportation and in-vehicle information and communication, introducing image analysis, AI, and seamless integration of applications for different vertical markets to meet the in-vehicle imaging needs of global customers.

Caravision recently developed millimeter wave radar integrated with fusion technology of in-car camera to detect objects even when the weather is bad. Caravision’s product can detect the motion around the vehicle and in-vehicle driving behavior with AI technology to improve the accuracy and completeness of driving information.

In addition, in response to the accelerated development of 5G technology and Internet of Vehicles in recent years, our products can provide real-time image transmission to fleet management platforms, reduce dispatching time to improve fleet management, while performing AI image digital value-added analysis services to enhance operational efficiency.

AMPA 2021 Highlights

 AI Box: with advanced vision processing system with NVIDIA™ modules that provide advanced computing, graphics and AI performance for intelligent transportation, supporting multiple in-vehicle cameras for superior flexibility to meet specific target case installation needs, allowing drivers to fully grasp vehicle conditions and improve detection of their surroundings.

 mmWave Radar Camera: Combined with in-vehicle camera and radar technology, it is used to assist in identifying objects and can instantly measure the distance between the vehicle and external objects, installed on both sides of the vehicle to detect objects in the blind spot area and display 180-degree real-time images to warn the driver to make real-time judgment and avoid the danger of side collision.

 Dual Lens Camera: it combines front and rear cameras to record real-time road conditions and capture images of in-vehicle driving behavior at the same time, capturing images and providing advanced driving assistance functions through AI algorithm technology. It can be flexibly expanded and integrated with the fleet management system according to the demand to clearly grasp the driving behavior and enhance safety and driving efficiency.

“Despite the impact of the epidemic on the global automotive industry in 2020,” Jerry Chiang said, “we continue to provide numerous intelligent transportation solutions for multiple modes of transportation and automotive markets.” Caravision has been actively seeking new business opportunities for ADAS advanced driver assistance systems and emphasizing the passenger experience and form the foundation of vehicle safety. Due to the epidemic, Jerry Chiang added, if people are not able to come to the show this year, please feel free to contact Caravision via the online show platform, phone or video to discuss the technology support and applications.

“After the epidemic, we plan to expand the invitation of overseas buyers and increase the number of visitors, in order to continue to demonstrate the strength of Taiwanese industry in the global market and, through the international influence of the exhibition, get closer to the needs of our customers.”
