Taiwan is an island packed with mountains, plains, and basins. The unique topographic features can significantly influence the local climate, creating differences across very small distances. The annual average precipitation in Taiwan is as high as 2,500 millimeters, approximately three times the amount of the global average. However, the steep mountain and fast-flowing rivers makes it extremely difficult to harvest, store and regulate water sources. As extreme weather hits, droughts have become more and more frequent in recent years. In the face of water crisis, the government announced four major goals: Source Development, Water Conservation Smart Distribution and Backup. Amongst which, Water Conservation aims to increase the recycling rate of industrial wastewater from 70% to 80% by 2031 and build six water reclamation plants to further emphasize the importance of water reuse.

Due to poor clean water access, uneven water distribution, and industrial water shortage, advanced water reclamation and purification technologies are highly valued on a global scale. According to recent studies, the wastewater treatment and water reclamation market will reach 27 billion US dollars by 2028. Taiwan has a complete water resources value chain. More and more water treatment application and research are in progress. For example, the wastewater treatment technology developed by the Industrial Technology Research Institute in 2022 is a pioneering achievement using reclaimed industrial wastewater in the semiconductor manufacturing, which usually requires extremely high-quality water source. In addition, Taiwanese companies in the water resources industry have partnered with the information and communication technology sector to formulate better solutions for water reclamation, flood control and early warning system, irrigation system optimization, reservoir management, and stable tap water networks. They hope to provide businesses all over the world with flexible and adaptable smart water management technologies and solutions.

TIWW 2023 is set to take place at Area A, Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 from September 20th to 22nd! The professional water exhibition features two main themes: Reclaimed Water and Smart Water Technology. Representatives from the government, industry, and enterprises, as well as international exhibitors and the press from the United States, France, Canada, Australia, and South Korea will all be joining the show. Together, we showcase the advancement in water reclamation, wastewater treatment and recycling, seawater desalination, pipeline planning, smart water monitoring and management, and other cutting-edge solutions. TIWW aims to build a one-stop exhibition and procurement platform for all water resources stakeholders.
