The mission of Water Technology Alliance (WTA) in Taiwan is to promote the development of water treatment technology and technical assistant for various water-use industries, including public, industrial and recreational sectors. First, this Alliance is to integrate academically disciplined and skilled local scholars and experts to establish the Alliance for technical assistant and promotion for the water industry. The mission of WTA encompass the enhancement of water purification technologies, such as drinking water treatment, industrial wastewater treatment and reclamation, and hot spring purification, in water-use industries through industrial service, patent development, technical transfer, academic exchange and technical training. WTA is to promote the innovative water purification technology and enhance cooperation with the industrial sector through technological know-how and assisting the industry resolve related hurdles. Furthermore, this Alliance is to enhance educational promotion, and spread the information of member activities through establishing a member-owned website and communication journal. The WTA will continue to carry out works on technical assistant and service, visiting factories and technical guidance. It is anticipated that the water purification technology applied in water resource industries in Taiwan and their international competitiveness will be upgraded through WTA.‧ Environmental Technology and Smart System

Brief Introduction of the Products
IS Water treatment system

This simple water treatment system is named as "IS Water", “I” represents Instant, “S” means self-sufficiency and saving-energy.
As we know, small water treatment systems in many mountainous areas (or remote areas) often suffer from problems such as the insufficient professional ability of managers (or unmanned management) and difficulty in collecting water fees. In order to assist local governments to promote the control of the small water business and implement the self-management of the small water supply business to ensure the safety of water for small tap water, the Water Technology Alliance (WTA) has designed a set of feasible smart management technologies for the management of the small water system.
The membrane water purification automatic control technology is easy to operate, and convenient to maintain, low in power consumption, and the operating cost are cheaper and more durable than the conventional microfiltration membrane module prepared by the traditional method, and the IS Water module is highly feasible in the future. It can create new domestic small water business and expand the water purification facilities market and improve the technical quality and output value of the people's livelihood water industry.

High performance coagulant: PACl & PSI

High performance PACl (PACl-H) coagulants contain high content of polymerized Al, which can improve turbid matter removal rate. Especially for high-turbidity water treatment, PACl-H coagulants can substantially facilitate the particulates aggregation and floc settleability to make fast water purification happen, and achieve the reduction of coagulant dosage and enhancement of sludge dewaterability. High performance PSI coagulants are valid to clarify semiconductor industry wastewater containing nano-scale SiO2 particulates or algae-laden water in drinking water treatment, which can improve particulates aggregation, floc settleability and sludge dewaterability.

Zebrafish embryo toxicity test

Zebrafish (Danio rerio) is a tropical freshwater fish and popular model organism for drug screening and toxicity test. Zebrafish embryo has been a suitable alternative to matured species in the development studies due to its transparent chorions and rapid extra-uterine development, allowing for observing the phenotypic changes during embryonic development stage. Compare to the traditional tests, zebrafish embryo toxicity test not only offers LC50 for acute toxicity, but also gives some information about the teratogenic effects such as delayed hatching, body size decline, abnormal heartbeat and malformation. Zebrafish embryo is a good indicator species of aquatic ecosystem health. We have provided the service of toxicity evaluation for vendors (e.g., TSMC), and assisted in establishing test methods for government agencies.
