Laser Hardening at Lip Land

With over 30 years dedication to extrusion die manufacture, GMA concentrates on making high quality lip radius standard, a key for high level optical film manufacture.

Once geometry machining is finished, the flow channel and lip land are chrome plated. They are then highly polished and ground to obtain lip radius around 50-80um for regular die head and 30-40um for high level ones. This radius is the key to improving very fine die-line on film. GMA upgrades surface treatment by laser beam for hardening, helping to finish lip radius at 20um, which is difficult for chrome layering to reach.
