As urban areas become highly developed and climate change continues to shape and alter our living situation worldwide, Taiwan also faces the threat of rapidly increasing water shortage and flood. Aside from fortifying all types of infrastructure, we should also introduce innovative disaster prevention smart technologies such as the smart water grid, and better water resource monitoring and management system. This way, we are able to distribute and exploit water resources with minimal waste and eventually create a resilient and high-quality water environment. These are definitely critical issues we must face in water management. Out of the three themed pavilions at TIWW 2022, the Smart Hydraulic Application Pavilion houses the most exhibitors. They present a wide variety of products and services including information system, measurement equipment, monitoring sensors, and smart water treatment equipment. The supervising authority and government agencies that oversee water business are also included in this pavilion. The phenomenon certainly indicates the pressing urgency of water problems in Taiwan.
Public Works Department (PWD), Taipei City Government aims to build a sponge city by addressing water resilience approaches from multiple dimensions, creating a friendly water environment, and ensuring water sustainability. Taipei Water Department will also demonstrate their effort in constructing a robust pipe system, disaster prevention approaches and contingency plans in water treatment and water supply networks, and smart water management. Their hard work grants citizens in Taipei access to clean water.
GSD Enviro Tech is dedicated to integrated water treatment solutions and services. The company will demonstrate their progress of a smart water service platform to enhance water sustainability in the building. They also cater to clients' demands in water management, equipment maintenance, interface upgrade, and carbon reduction. AIWin Technology is a professional AI company that specializes in AI SaaS solutions. UTRUST Technology helps clients with digital initiatives and business model transformation. The company owns big data storage and computing framework and Vast cloud-based IoT platform. This allows a vast amount of data to be properly stored, analyzed, and applied as a true IoT ecology should. Prognosis Technology proudly presents their very own smart high frequency vibration temperature sensor used to monitor, analyze, diagnose, detect malfunction, and issue warnings 24-7.
Energy Management System (EMS) is the pioneer and the leader in the water meter industry. The company offers large-caliber water meter, GTI wireless recorder, and smart water solutions using smart water meters and water balance analysis for industrial parks and campuses. Minteai Information, a recognized importer of highly sensitive leak detectors and technologies from the U.S and Europe, plans to introduce a rich selection of leak detectors made of various materials and noise recorders that automatically activate when sensing a leak in the water supply system. These applications act as key components in monitoring and warning systems for water leakage. Leading sensor manufacturer and automated manufacturing solutions provider FineTek will showcase various easy to install battery charged electromagnetic flow meters, radar level transmitters, and EPR paddle wheel flow meters. These sensors are highly accurate, and easy to access data. Procal Tech has ample experience in monitoring slope failure, and the water level of rivers and underground water source. They will dazzle visitors with high precision and low energy consumption monitoring devices that measure both water level and temperature this TIWW.
Green Intelligent Technology and the Environmental Technology & Smart System Research Center of Feng Chia University collaborated on the AI Filter Backwash Testing Module. The embedded image recognition device identifies and reports the performance data and statistics of the filter instantly, allowing staffs on site to modify or adjust the output water quality as stipulated. The Division of Water Technology Research, which had significant results on water treatment technology R&D, under Department of Material and Chemical Research Laboratories in Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) will demonstrate an integrated smart system with AIoT, automation and water treatment technologies. The system can recommend customized solutions according to the target water sources. As for the smart water resource management and decision-making platform, ITRI offers rental services to those in need. Another remarkable ITRI technology is BioNET, a new biological treatment system with porous biocarriers as its core to enhance wastewater treatment efficiency.
There is no denying that total smart water management system is the future. Hopefully that through TIWW, local and overseas suppliers will be able to experience the vitality, brilliance, and innovative potential of companies in Taiwan.
